Recommendations and Ranking in Fortnite and Fall Guys
The Digital Services Act, a European Union (EU) law, requires providers of online platforms to disclose how they recommend content. Here’s how this works in Fortnite and Fall Guys:
Fortnite recommends creator islands (“Islands”) to you to help improve your experience and show content we think you might like. We have several categories in Discover, such as “trending,” “new experiences,” and “great with friends.” Your “Homebar” is the first row you see in your Discover page, which brings together your most recently played Islands as well as recommendations of Islands from these different types of categories. We organize and rank the Islands we show you based on a range of factors, including your play history, and game information, such as the number of End Users playing, the number of players with an Island on their favorites, the number of edits for an Island, how long a creator has spent editing their Island, when an Island was first seen, the number of buildings an Island has, the average party size, and how often an Island has been played and for how long.
You can choose to turn off your personalized game experience recommendations when using the Discover tab by going directly into your settings, under “account and privacy” and “gameplay privacy.”
Fall Guys makes recommendations of game levels to help improve your experience in the game. This is based on game information, such as the number of times a level has been played (on both a per player and group of players basis), when a level was last updated, the percentage of players that have completed a level, or who have dropped out prior to the end of the level, the average number of times that a player respawns before completing the level, and 'likes' or 'dislikes' associated to a particular game level (on both a per player and group of players basis).
